What is the E-Visa Vietnam?
The E-Visa is an electronic travel authorization from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Government for up to 30 consecutive days, issued in PDF format. It is the equivalent to a visa, but no stamp or label is placed in the passport. The E-Visa is an entry requirement to travel to and within Vietnam for any of the following reasons:
- Tourism
- Business
- Visiting relatives/friends
- Investment
- Journalism
- Official Visit
- Labor, Employment
- Office, Organization of Economy, Culture, Technology, Non- Government
- Study
- Summit
- Other
Minors travelling to Vietnam are required to present a visa at the port of entry. Minors with their own passport must complete a full E-Visa application. Minors aged 14 and under included on their parent’s passport can be included on their parents E-Visa application.
The E-Visa Vietnam is an official visa travel authorization. It is a simple electronic application that allows travellers to apply directly online for a Travel Authorization, simplifying the procedures to enter Vietnam. Hence, there is no more need to apply for an “approval letter”, which require to queue, process and pay an additional stamp of $25.00 for “visa on arrival” once arrived to Vietnam.
- The E-Visa Vietnam is a single entry visa;
- The E-Visa is valid for thirty (30) days, from the proposed date of entry indicated during the application;
- E-Visa holders may remain in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for a maximum of thirty (30) consecutive days after the initial entry date;
- Once the first 30 days have passed, and renewal be needed it, E-Visa holders in Vietnam may be considered to grant new visa if being invited/guaranteed by authority/organisation/individual in Vietnam in accordance with Law on foreigners' entry into, exit from, transit through, residence in Vietnam;
- The applicant’s passport must be valid for at least six (6) months after arrival to Vietnam and it must have at least two blank pages for the immigration and border control officer;
- Minors with their own passport must complete a full E-Visa application. Minors aged 14 and under included on their parent’s passport will have to be included on their parents E-Visa application;
- Applicants are required to carry a copy of their E-Visa at all times during their stay.
Citizens of the 40 countries listed below are eligible for the E-Visa Vietnam, including China*, Republic of Korea, Japan, United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden and Russian Federation.
(*) Citizens from China must apply with a traditional passport. Chinese e-Passports cannot be used to apply for E-Visa.

Conditions for being granted an e-Visa:
Applicants must travel to Vietnam with the following documents:
- Outside Vietnam foreigners;
- Hold a valid passport;
- Not falling into the cases of suspension from entry prescribed in Article 21 of Law on foreigners' entry into, exit from, transit through, residence in Vietnam.
Additional evidence requirements:
- A scanned color copy of the of the biographical page of the applicant’s current passport;
- Recent passport-style color photo:
- The head should be centered in the photo and cover about 70% of the photo;
- It must show a full, clear, and front view of the applicants face;
- Must have a white background;
- Head should be, unretouched, centered and in focus;
- Applicant's head, including both face and hair, should be shown from the crown of the head to the tip of the chin;
- The photograph must be recent, no more than 6 months old;
- All hats or headgear should be removed for the photo unless worn daily for religious reasons. In such cases your facial features (eyes, nose and mouth) must be visible in the photograph;
- Applicant’s expression should be natural, with both eyes open, closed mouth, and looking directly ahead;
- Scanned or colour photocopies of your passport photo will not be accepted.
Vietnam currently has a visa waiver program, apart from tourists visa exemptions for the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). Vietnam also offers a 15-day visa exemptions for visitors from the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden.
Entry Requirements to enter the Socialist Republic of Vietnam
Applicants must travel to Vietnam with the following documents:
- A passport valid at least six (6) month after arrival to Vietnam;
- Printed Approved electronic Visa (E-Visa).

The information provided in the online application such as name, date of birth, gender, nationality and passport number, needs to be exactly the same as shown in the passport or legal travel document.
